Family work usually ends up turning into a nightmare. But this is one instance, where it turned out to be a great treat. A family member needed a new logo for their softball team. It didn’t pay, except for getting my own shirt, but the project was fun. Since the team was based in Mount Horeb, we started with several designs that included the “Rage Troll” that is used online. That ended up having to be scrapped from the logo, but I was still able to use it on the back of the shirt. The Type for the front started out as a font that was traced and modified on paper, and then rescanned in and adjusted.
The budget didn’t allow for names to be printed on the back of the shirts, but we were able to have one screen made, so we opted for a little friendly taunting. We incorporated the troll face with the phrase, “You mad bro?” and as much as we hoped to taunt the opposing teams, they mostly laughed and enjoyed the ridiculousness of them. I personally enjoyed the dichotomy between the crude troll face and the fancy lettering in the type.
