Two illustrations created for a co-workers wedding invite. The heart was created first to symbolize the coming together of two people in love and the passion they bring to their lives. The logo was first sketched using pencil and paper. Then it was scanned and brought into Illustrator. The black outline was created first using a Wacom tablet and brush tips of varying sizes. The coloring was done in multiple layers starting with base colors then adding shading and highlights on top.
The extended family had some objections to the illustration and through much deliberation, my co-worker went with a secondary option. It was created in the same manner and I applied the same “painting” technique to the birds to give it a tattoo feel. The lettering was traced from a font, and then using pencil and paper, it was altered to give them a unique look to their initials.
Recently, the happy couple decided it was time to add to their collection of tattoos, and they informed me that a local artist had reproduced my art on their shoulders. I was very stoked to see my art become a tattoo for the first time.
